Alessandro Gazzi has been appointed as the new team manager of Torino, the club has confirmed. Gazzi, a former midfielder for the Serie A side, will replace Alessandro Andreini, who is departing after two years in the role by mutual consent. The move marks a return to the club for Gazzi, who previously played for Torino between 2012 and 2016.
Andreini arrived at Torino in the summer of 2024, selected by former technical director Davide Vagnati during Paolo Vanoli’s initial period as head coach. He continued in the role through the tenures of subsequent managers, Baroni and D’Aversa. According to reports, the club’s focus following Vagnati’s replacement by Gianluca Petrachi in December was primarily on managing the existing squad, making necessary adjustments for January, and securing Serie A safety.
Gazzi’s appointment is seen as a strategic move by Petrachi, who originally brought the player to Torino during his previous spell as sporting director. The intention is to leverage Gazzi’s extensive playing experience and establish him as a key point of contact for the team. Prior to this appointment, Gazzi served as an assistant coach for Torino’s Under 17 side in the 2022-23 season, and later held similar roles at Feralpisalò and SudTirol.
Further changes are also being made within Torino’s medical staff. Doctors Paolo Minafra and Daniele Mozzone will both be leaving the club. Dr. Paolo Gola is set to return as the team physician, having previously held the position from 2014 to 2020. Minafra was initially appointed by Vagnati in 2020 but experienced a parting of ways with the club in 2021 due to differing opinions with then-manager Juric, before returning last summer. Mozzone’s departure concludes a long association with the club, beginning in the youth ranks. The club is also seeing changes in its scouting department, with Enrico Paresce potentially moving to the English Premier League, attracting interest from Newcastle and Bournemouth, and being replaced by Bruno Petrachi, the sporting director’s nephew.
The potential return of former Torino coach Giampiero Ventura as a technical advisor remains uncertain, with president Cairo reportedly hesitant to grant him the level of decision-making power he desires.
