Olivier Glasner has been officially appointed as the new manager of Nottingham Forest, signing a three-year contract that will keep him at the City Ground until June 2029. The 51-year-old Austrian coach arrives from Crystal Palace, where he enjoyed a successful, albeit brief, spell. The appointment sees Glasner become the fifth manager of the Premier League club in under a year.
Glasner announced in January his intention to leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season, citing a desire for a “new challenge.” He will take over from Nuno Espírito Santo, who recently departed the club after securing Premier League survival with a 16th-place finish and a commendable run to the Europa League semi-finals, where they were eliminated by eventual winners Aston Villa.
Glasner’s time at Crystal Palace, lasting just over a season and a half, proved remarkably trophy-laden. He guided the Eagles to their first-ever major honours, winning the FA Cup in 2025 with a 1-0 victory over Manchester City. This was followed by success in the Community Shield, also in 2025, defeating Liverpool 3-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Most recently, he led Crystal Palace to victory in the Europa Conference League in 2026, overcoming Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in the final.
Prior to joining Crystal Palace in February 2024, Glasner had previously managed Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt, winning the Europa League with the latter in 2022. He is known for his proactive, attacking style of football and his ability to quickly improve team organisation. Nottingham Forest will be hoping he can replicate his success at the City Ground and establish the club as a consistent Premier League side. The appointment signals a clear ambition from Forest’s ownership to build a stable and competitive team.
