Jocelyn Blanchard is poised to become the new sporting director of Troyes, according to reports from L’Équipe. The 54-year-old is the leading candidate to replace Antoine Sibierski, who departed the Ligue 1 club earlier this year. Blanchard’s appointment is anticipated to be confirmed imminently.
Troyes have been actively searching for a new sporting director for several weeks, with Bafétimbi Gomis previously considered a strong contender for the role. However, the former France international will not be taking up the position at the club. Blanchard emerged as the preferred candidate in recent days, with sources indicating a swift resolution to the search.
Blanchard brings a wealth of experience to Troyes, most recently serving as the sporting director for RC Lens. He oversaw a period of significant growth at Lens, helping to secure promotion back to Ligue 1 and establish the club as a competitive force in the top flight. Prior to his time at Lens, Blanchard held the position of football director at Dunkerque, where he was responsible for all aspects of the club’s football operations.
Sibierski’s departure left a void in Troyes’ leadership structure, and the club will be hoping Blanchard can provide the stability and expertise needed to navigate the challenges of the Ligue 1 season. Troyes currently sit in 15th position in Ligue 1, just two points above the relegation zone, and Blanchard will be tasked with strengthening the squad and improving the team’s performance. His arrival signals Troyes’ intention to invest in a long-term football strategy and build a sustainable model for success.
