Oliver Glasner has addressed speculation linking him with the managerial position at Milan, stating that any potential move hinges on having a “good feeling” and ensuring everything is “perfect.” The former Crystal Palace manager provided these comments to Austrian newspapers Kronen and Oberösterreichischen Nachrichten while playing tennis in Mehrnbach, Austria.
Glasner refrained from directly confirming or denying the links to Milan, stating, “It’s very nice that, since I announced the end of my contract with Crystal Palace, the media have linked me with almost all clubs. I have never commented on these rumours and don’t want to do so now.” He added that he will announce his decision when the time is right, but emphasized the importance of a complete package. According to reports, Milan has offered Glasner a two-year contract, but the project as a whole, including the potential appointment of Ralf Rangnick as technical director – a figure Glasner is reportedly close to – needs to align with his expectations.
This cautious approach follows Glasner’s rejection of an offer from Feyenoord, suggesting a clear preference for a move to Italy. Glasner departed Crystal Palace at the end of the Premier League season after a single campaign, having previously managed Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt. His time at Frankfurt saw him win the Europa League in 2022, demonstrating his ability to succeed at a high level.
Beyond his potential club future, Glasner also offered his thoughts on the upcoming World Cup. He expressed his intention to follow the tournament, particularly Austria’s matches, while also questioning the expanded format, stating that 104 games “seem too many.” He tipped France to win, but also highlighted Spain and Argentina as strong contenders, acknowledging the historical difficulty of European teams winning the World Cup in South America. Glasner is currently focused on personal matters, including catching up with his fiscal advisor and a long-delayed lunch with friends, as well as participating in a golf tournament.
