Liverpool are monitoring teenage Mexico international Gilberto Mora, though any potential move is complicated by the player’s age and current contract situation. The 17-year-old midfielder featured in four of Mexico’s five games at the recent World Cup, attracting attention from across Europe’s top clubs. However, Mora cannot complete an international transfer until he turns 18.
According to insider Pete O’Rourke, Liverpool have “registered an interest” in Mora, but will face competition from a host of other major European sides including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich. Mora recently signed a new contract with Tijuana, extending his stay with the Mexican club until 2029, further complicating any swift transfer.
Beyond Mora, Liverpool are also reportedly revisiting their interest in French midfielder Manu Kone, who has recently been linked with Manchester United. Kone’s development while playing for Roma has reportedly caught the eye of Liverpool’s recruitment team, though it remains unclear which club is currently in a stronger position to secure his signature.
Liverpool’s transfer activity also extends to Egypt, with reports suggesting they are keen on Mohamed Salah’s international teammate, Haissem Hassan. Talks are underway with Real Oviedo regarding the 24-year-old right winger, who provided an assist for Egypt at the World Cup. Liverpool are hoping to negotiate a fee below Hassan’s €12 million (£10.2m) release clause, after Celtic had a lower bid rejected. These moves signal a period of transition for Liverpool as they look to reshape their squad under their new manager.
These potential signings suggest Liverpool are looking to add both established talent and promising young players to their squad, with a focus on strengthening their midfield and attacking options.
