Serhou Guirassy, the Borussia Dortmund striker, has reportedly agreed to a transfer to Fenerbahçe this summer, according to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu. The move is contingent on Aziz Yildirim winning the upcoming presidential election at the Süper Lig club.
Sabuncuoglu reports that Yildirim has already reached an agreement with Guirassy and Dortmund officials. Should Yildirim emerge victorious, the Guinean forward is expected to become a key signing for Fenerbahçe. The election vote count is scheduled to take place in the coming days, with a general meeting set for June 6th and 7th to finalize the results.
Despite the eligibility of 44,741 club members to vote, the count will proceed regardless of attendance numbers. Guirassy has seemingly begun preparations for a potential move, reportedly gathering information about Istanbul. This suggests a proactive approach from the player, anticipating a positive outcome in the Fenerbahçe election.
The 30-year-old Guirassy enjoyed a productive season with Dortmund, finishing as the third-highest goalscorer in the Bundesliga with 17 goals and one assist in 33 appearances. He previously played for Amiens and Rennes in France, as well as Ingolstadt in Germany, before joining Dortmund. While Dortmund did not win the Bundesliga, Guirassy’s goalscoring form established him as a valuable asset.
Fenerbahçe are looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season, and Guirassy’s proven goalscoring record makes him an attractive prospect. A successful transfer would provide a significant boost to Yildirim’s campaign promises and signal Fenerbahçe’s ambition for the upcoming season. The outcome of the election will ultimately determine whether Guirassy will be playing his football in Istanbul next year.
