Hamburger SV have reached an agreement to sign Martin Adeline from ESTAC Troyes for a reported fee of €4 million, plus performance-related bonuses, according to Bild. The 22-year-old French midfielder is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days, with L’Équipe and Hamburger Abendblatt also reporting on the imminent transfer.
Adeline arrives at the Volksparkstadion as a direct replacement for Fábio Vieira, whose loan spell from Arsenal has concluded. Hamburger SV had expressed interest in securing Vieira’s services permanently, but were unable to meet Arsenal’s valuation, which was reported to be around €10 million. The club’s budget of €10 million proved insufficient to complete a permanent deal for the Portuguese playmaker.
Adeline enjoyed a successful 2022-23 season with Troyes, playing a pivotal role in their promotion to Ligue 1. He contributed significantly to their attacking output, registering 10 goals and 11 assists in 32 appearances in Ligue 2. His creativity and goal-scoring ability are expected to be valuable assets for HSV as they aim to challenge for promotion to the Bundesliga.
Martin Adeline began his professional career with Stade Reims before moving to Troyes in January 2022. He quickly established himself as a key player for the club, demonstrating his technical skills and vision. The move to Hamburger SV represents a significant step in his career, offering him the opportunity to showcase his talent in a competitive European league.
The acquisition of Adeline provides HSV with an attacking midfield option and addresses the void left by Vieira’s departure. This transfer signifies the club’s commitment to strengthening their squad ahead of the upcoming season, as they strive to achieve their ambition of returning to the Bundesliga.
