Juventus are emerging as frontrunners to sign Jhon Lucumí from Bologna, according to reports in Italy. The Serie A champions are seeking to bolster their defensive options ahead of the upcoming season and have identified the Colombian international as a key target. While no fee has been agreed, Bologna are reportedly holding firm on Lucumí’s release clause of €28 million, which is set to expire on July 15th.
Lucumí impressed in Serie A last season, showcasing a strong physical presence and an ability to play out from the back. His performances for Bologna, and particularly his showing in their match against Juventus, have caught the eye of coach Luciano Spalletti, who is seeking a left-footed central defender. The 29-year-old also featured prominently for Colombia at the recent World Cup, further enhancing his reputation.
Interest from the Premier League exists, with several clubs reportedly gathering information on Lucumí’s availability. However, the player is currently prioritizing a move within Serie A, making Juventus the clear favorites. Inter Milan have also been linked, but their focus remains primarily on Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah.
Juventus are also considering potential departures in their defense. The club are open to selling Bremer, who is reportedly on Bayern Munich’s shortlist, although no offers have yet materialized. Meanwhile, the future of Federico Gatti appears uncertain under Spalletti, and Mattia De Sciglio and Daniele Rugani are expected to be part of the pre-season squad. The potential sale of Muharemovic to Sassuolo for around €40 million could generate a profit of approximately €20 million for Juventus, funds that could be reinvested in strengthening the squad. The club are working to resolve several defensive issues ahead of the new campaign.
