Hamburger SV have completed the signing of midfielder Martin Adeline from French club ES Troyes AC, the Bundesliga side announced on Monday evening.
The 22-year-old arrives at the Volksparkstadion off the back of a highly productive season in Ligue 2, where he was instrumental in Troyes’ promotion back to Ligue 1. Adeline underwent a medical examination on Monday morning and has signed a long-term contract with HSV, though the exact length of the deal remains undisclosed.
Adeline contributed 21 goals and assists in 32 league appearances for Troyes last season, demonstrating his attacking prowess from midfield. He joined Troyes in 2022, quickly becoming a key player for the club as they aimed to return to the French top flight.
Hamburger SV sporting director Kathleen Krüger expressed her satisfaction with the acquisition, stating that Adeline represents an important step in the club’s squad development. Krüger highlighted the collaborative effort between the sporting management, scouting department, and coaching staff in identifying Adeline as a target. She emphasized that the club specifically sought to add players with profiles that would enhance their tactical flexibility and overall quality.
“Martin brings precisely the qualities that will enrich our game and open up new options and thus flexibility for us,” Krüger said. She also praised Adeline’s character, describing him as a selfless team player with a strong work ethic.
Hamburger SV will be hoping Adeline can replicate his impressive form in the Bundesliga, adding creativity and goal threat to their midfield. The move provides HSV with a dynamic option in the center of the pitch as they prepare for the upcoming season and aim to challenge for promotion to the Bundesliga.
