Arijon Ibrahimović is set to extend his stay at Bayern Munich, agreeing to a new contract with the Bundesliga champions, according to Transfermarkt. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder is expected to finalize the terms of the deal next week, rejecting interest from a number of clubs across Europe.
The new contract will run until 2028, replacing Ibrahimović’s existing deal which was set to expire in 2027 with an option for a further year. This commitment signifies a vote of confidence from Bayern in the young German international, despite his recent loan spell away from the Allianz Arena.
Ibrahimović spent last season on loan at Heidenheim, where he impressed with his performances in the Bundesliga. Several clubs reportedly monitored his progress, including Werder Bremen, Hamburger SV, Freiburg, Augsburg, Villarreal, Brighton & Hove Albion and Hull City. His performances sparked speculation about a potential permanent move elsewhere, but Ibrahimović has ultimately chosen to return to Bavaria.
The key factor in Ibrahimović’s decision appears to be the influence of Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany. Transfermarkt reports that Kompany engaged in a series of positive conversations with the player, outlining a clear pathway to first-team opportunities. This sporting perspective seemingly convinced Ibrahimović that his future development would be best served at Bayern.
Ibrahimović also made a strong impression on Bayern officials during the closing weeks of last season. His performance against his parent club while on loan at Heidenheim, where he registered a goal contribution in a 3-3 draw at the Allianz Arena, reportedly highlighted his potential. He followed this up with further contributions in Heidenheim’s match against Köln, reinforcing the club’s desire to retain his services.
Bayern now view Ibrahimović as an integral part of their long-term plans, and the player is expected to compete for a place in Kompany’s squad. The extension provides Bayern with a promising young talent, while Ibrahimović will hope to establish himself as a key player for one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
