Manchester United have been informed that Borussia Dortmund value midfielder Felix Nmecha at €120 million (£102m), according to The Athletic. The valuation comes as United seek to overhaul their midfield options ahead of the 2026-27 Premier League season.
Sky Sports Germany previously reported United’s interest in Nmecha, noting him as a potential target during a planned midfield rebuild. The 24-year-old impressed during the recent World Cup, scoring against Curacao and winning a penalty in the same match, raising his profile on the international stage.
Dortmund’s increased asking price is reportedly influenced by Elliot Anderson’s recent €134 million (£116m) transfer to Manchester City. Anderson, also a player of interest to United, ultimately joined their rivals, becoming the most expensive British player in history. This move has seemingly impacted the market valuation of other central midfielders.
United have already seen other midfield targets choose alternative destinations, with Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali both completing a combined €216 million (£185m) move to Tottenham Hotspur. The club continues to explore other options, including Bournemouth’s Alex Scott and Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni, as they search for midfield reinforcements.
However, sources indicate United are unlikely to pursue Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba, according to the Daily Mail. BBC Sport understands the club is prioritising financial prudence and aims to distribute their transfer budget across multiple positions, rather than committing a large sum to a single player.
Alongside their midfield search, United are also assessing potential left wingers, with West Ham United’s Crysencio Summerville attracting attention. Summerville impressed for the Netherlands at the World Cup, scoring twice and providing two assists in four appearances, and was a standout performer for West Ham despite their relegation from the Premier League.
United are nearing the completion of their first summer signing, having agreed a €40.5 million (£35m) fee with Atalanta for Ederson. The midfielder is currently with the Brazil squad at the World Cup, but has indicated the transfer is “practically almost all sorted” following his appearance in a recent group-stage match.
