Manchester United are continuing to monitor Lewis Hall as a potential left-back signing, with Newcastle United set to discuss the player’s future with him, according to transfer reporter Ben Jacobs. The Red Devils are seeking competition and cover for Luke Shaw, particularly with Tyrell Malacia having departed on a free transfer and Patrick Dorgu viewed as a wider attacking option.
United reportedly view Hall as a long-term solution at left-back, believing he has the potential to eventually become their first choice. The 20-year-old has been a regular for Newcastle since joining from Chelsea in 2023, making 30 appearances across all competitions last season, though he saw his playing time reduced towards the end of the campaign with Dan Burn preferred at left-back.
Jacobs reports that Newcastle’s failure to qualify for the Champions League has contributed to Hall’s potential desire for a move. A conversation between the player and manager Eddie Howe is expected to determine whether a new contract will be offered, or if Hall will seek an opportunity elsewhere. Manchester United are poised to make a move should the latter prove to be the case.
The market valuation for Hall is estimated to be between £40-45 million, though Newcastle may seek a higher fee given the player’s contract runs until 2029. Jacobs suggests that the final asking price could depend on whether Hall actively pushes for a transfer. Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic has also confirmed United’s interest in Hall, alongside interest in Crysencio Summerville.
Further midfield targets for Manchester United include Khephren Tchouameni of Real Madrid and Alex Scott of Brighton & Hove Albion, though Jacobs indicates that signing a midfielder is not as urgent a priority as reinforcing the left-back position. The club are also monitoring other options, including Arnau Bouaddi of Lille, potentially with a view to a loan back to the French club.
