Toulouse have completed the signing of 20-year-old defender Christ Tapé from Danish side AC Horsens on a four-year contract, the club announced on Thursday. The deal is reported to be worth around €2.5 million for the left-footed centre-back, who recently gained promotion to the Danish Superliga with Horsens. Tapé’s contract with Toulouse will run until 2030.
The Ivory Coast youth international had attracted interest from several French clubs since arriving in Europe in 2024. According to L’Équipe, both RC Lens and Stade de Reims expressed interest in Tapé previously, but were unsuccessful in their pursuits. The player has represented his country at youth levels, adding to his growing profile.
Tapé brings with him experience from 58 professional appearances, including a standout season with Horsens where he featured in 30 matches, scoring one goal and providing one assist. His arrival at the Stadium Municipal is expected to bolster Toulouse’s defensive options, potentially filling the void left by the anticipated departure of Charlie Cresswell.
Toulouse have already secured the signing of Ismaïl Diallo, a right-back, this summer as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Ligue 1 season. The addition of Tapé provides coach Carles Martinez Novell with another versatile defensive option, capable of playing centrally or on the left. The club finished eleventh in Ligue 1 last season and will hope the new signings can propel them towards European contention.
AC Horsens will be looking to reinvest the fee received from Tapé’s sale to strengthen their own squad following their recent promotion. The defender’s move represents a significant step up in his career, joining a competitive league and a club with ambitions for growth.
