Torino have agreed a loan deal with option to buy for Venezia midfielder Gaetano Oristanio, according to reports in Italy. The move comes as new Torino coach Stefano Abate seeks to reshape the squad to suit his tactical approach, with sporting director Petrachi playing a key role in identifying targets. Oristanio is expected to undergo a medical between July 6th and 7th before finalising his contract with the club.
Oristanio joins Torino after a less impactful season with Parma, where he scored one goal despite limited playing time and an injury disrupting his campaign. The 21-year-old came through the Inter Milan youth system before moving to Venezia, and was a target for Torino during the previous transfer window. He primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, offering creativity and a goal threat from the number ten position.
Torino are also reportedly close to securing the services of Spezia goalkeeper Alessandro Mascardi, a 2006-born prospect who has impressed in Serie B and earned a call-up to the Italy Under-21 squad. Mascardi is viewed as a promising addition to Torino’s goalkeeping options, though the potential arrival of Paraguay international Gill has not been ruled out. The club are seemingly building depth across multiple positions ahead of the new season.
The loan deal for Oristanio provides Torino with an affordable option to bolster their midfield creativity, while offering the player a chance to reignite his career after a challenging year. The potential addition of Mascardi further strengthens the squad, suggesting Torino are aiming for a competitive campaign in Serie A. This proactive approach in the transfer market signals Torino’s ambition to build a team capable of challenging higher up the league table.
