Inter are pursuing Tottenham Hotspur’s Djed Spence to reinforce their right flank, a position vacated following the potential departure of Denzel Dumfries, according to reports from Italy. Spence, whose full name is Diop Tehuti Djed-Hotep, has been a target for the Nerazzurri for some time, and the club is currently in negotiations with Tottenham regarding a potential transfer.
Spence earned the nickname “chill boy” during his time at Genoa, an Italian term signifying a calm and relaxed demeanor. This reflects his personality, which is rooted in his Jamaican heritage through his parents, who instilled in him a strong connection to Caribbean culture and music despite being born and raised in London. Notably, Spence became the first Muslim player to represent England at a senior level, marking a significant moment in his career.
Beyond his footballing abilities, Spence’s family boasts other talents. His sister, Karla-Simone, is an actress who has appeared in films such as Blue Story and television series including an anime adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo, as well as BBC productions. The family’s artistic flair extends beyond the football pitch.
Spence recently recovered from a fractured jaw sustained in May during a collision with Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, an incident that resulted in a protective mask being fitted. He continued to play while wearing the mask during the recent World Cup, even posting humorous reactions to the incident on social media. The injury, and his resilience in playing through it, brought him increased visibility, contributing to Inter’s interest. The club is now working to secure a deal with Tottenham, with the potential to significantly increase his value following a loan spell at Genoa last season. The transfer could provide Inter with a dynamic option at right-back as they prepare for the upcoming Serie A campaign.
