Inter are considering a move for Strasbourg right-back Guéla Doué, according to reports from France. The 2002-born player recently featured for the Ivory Coast in the World Cup, where his team was eliminated by Norway in the round of sixteen. This international exposure has further increased his profile amongst several European clubs.
Doué’s emergence as a potential target for Inter follows the failed pursuit of Fabiano Parisi and further medical checks required for Kwadwo Asamoah. The Nerazzurri are reportedly seeking reinforcements at right-back, and Doué presents a viable option. Last summer, AC Milan also expressed strong interest in the player, but a deal ultimately fell through due to Strasbourg’s valuation of €40 million.
Born in Angers to a French mother and Ivorian father, Doué is three years older than his brother, Désiré Doué, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain. Both players progressed through the youth academy at Rennes, making their professional debuts together in 2022. Guéla subsequently joined Strasbourg in 2024, a club owned by BlueCo, the same group that owns Chelsea. He quickly established himself as a key player for the Alsatian side, making 32 appearances in Ligue 1 during his first season, scoring one goal and providing two assists. Last season saw him feature in 24 league games, adding two goals and six assists, alongside eight appearances in the Conference League where Strasbourg reached the semi-finals.
Doué’s quality was highlighted in a recent friendly match between France and the Ivory Coast, marking the first time the brothers faced each other on international duty. Prior to this, they had met three times in Ligue 1, with each player securing a win and one match ending in a draw. In that friendly, Doué scored one goal and provided an assist in a 2-1 victory for the Ivory Coast, showcasing his attacking prowess and ability to contribute in the final third. He is known for his driving runs, crossing ability, and technical skill, qualities that have made him one of the standout right-backs in Ligue 1. Inter will now need to present a financially compelling offer to convince Strasbourg to sell.
