Inter are nearing the signing of Udinese defender Oumar Solet, with legal proceedings that had been casting a shadow over the potential transfer now concluded. The Serie A club are set to pay around €25 million for the French centre-back, with the possibility of including a player from Inter’s Under 23 squad as part of the deal, according to reports in Italy.
Solet was subject to a legal investigation following allegations of sexual assault made in May 2025, but the case has now been archived by the Udine Prosecutor’s Office on May 28th. His legal representatives expressed their satisfaction with the outcome, describing it as “amply exonerating” according to Ansa.
Personal terms between Inter and Solet are already agreed, with a contract expected to run until 2031. The Nerazzurri coaching staff believe Solet’s versatility will be a significant asset, capable of playing in all three positions within a three-man defence. At Udinese, he has frequently featured as a right-sided centre-back, often pushing forward into more advanced positions.
Solet enjoyed a productive season for Udinese, scoring three goals in 38 appearances across all competitions. Inter officials, including Ausilio and Marotta, have been tracking Solet’s progress for some time, having previously observed him playing against them for Udinese and in the Champions League with Salzburg. The player himself previously indicated a preference for playing in Milan, reportedly turning down an offer from Napoli.
Solet’s playing style has been compared to that of Inter’s Alexander Bisseck, with both players possessing a willingness to advance with the ball and contribute to attacking phases. He led Serie A defenders in successful dribbles (42) last season, while also ranking highly for tackles and interceptions, demonstrating his all-round defensive capabilities. The addition of Solet would provide further depth and tactical flexibility to Inter’s backline as they look to build on their recent successes.
Inter are looking to bolster their squad ahead of next season, and Solet represents a key target in their defensive recruitment plans.
