Inter Milan are laying the groundwork for a significant summer transfer window, with Cristian Chivu, alongside Beppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio, and Dario Baccin, leading the planning. The club confirmed that discussions regarding a contract extension for the current head coach are a formality and will be addressed following the conclusion of the season.
Chivu is expected to sign a new deal extending his commitment to Inter until 2028, with a substantial increase to his salary exceeding €3 million plus bonuses. Beyond the financial aspect, Chivu prioritizes the club’s continued competitiveness, requiring strategic player acquisitions to elevate the squad’s performance and tactical flexibility.
One key target is Manu Koné, currently at Roma, as Inter intends to transition to a 3-4-2-1 formation. Roma are reportedly seeking €40 million for the French midfielder, a figure Inter must meet before June 30th to comply with UEFA’s financial fair play regulations. The club believes Koné’s arrival would allow them to comfortably deploy an additional attacker.
Inter are also monitoring Curtis Jones of Liverpool, whose versatility – including the ability to play as an attacking midfielder – is highly valued, particularly with the potential departure of Davide Frattesi. Jones has reportedly indicated his interest in joining Inter, but Liverpool have yet to set a price for the player. He has a strained relationship with new Liverpool manager Arne Slot and is unwilling to sign a contract extension.
Looking to the future, Inter are planning to repurchase Aleksandar Stankovic from Club Brugge, though his long-term future at the club is uncertain given the interest from other teams. The club also retain an interest in Nico Paz, while keeping tabs on potential replacements for Denzel Dumfries, who is linked with a move to the Premier League and has a release clause of €25 million.
In defense, Stefan de Vrij is set to renew his contract for another year, albeit on reduced terms. Benjamin Pavard, who spent last season on loan at Marseille, will not be returning as he does not feature in Inter’s plans.
These moves signal Inter’s ambition to build a squad capable of challenging for both domestic and European honors.
