Inter Milan have renewed their interest in Guela Doué, the 23-year-old right-back from Strasbourg and the Ivory Coast national team, according to reports from Italy. This comes amid uncertainty surrounding the potential signing of Anan Khalaili, with the club awaiting a definitive medical assessment and confirmation from the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI).
Inter initially pursued Doué before turning their attention to Khalaili, whose deal with Union Saint-Gilloise appeared close to completion. However, complications with Khalaili’s transfer have prompted the Nerazzurri to revisit other options, with Doué remaining a primary target. Doué has previously been linked with a move to AC Milan, and the possibility of joining Inter represents a new, equally attractive career path.
The pursuit of Marco Palestra proved unsuccessful, leading Inter to Khalaili, and now potentially back to Doué. While Khalaili’s potential arrival was agreed upon for a fee of around 25 million euros, Doué’s transfer could exceed that valuation, as Strasbourg are known for being a difficult club to negotiate with. Doué offers a different profile than both Palestra and Khalaili, being considered more defensively oriented and fitting the role of a traditional full-back.
Doué has represented the Ivory Coast internationally, while his younger brother, Désiré Doué, plays for France and Paris Saint-Germain, having recently been on the losing side against Inter in the 2025 Champions League final. Both brothers developed through the youth systems of Angers and Rennes. Inter are also monitoring other options, including Fiorentina’s Dodo and Genoa’s Norton-Cuffy, but these players are currently lower priorities. Hellas Verona’s Rafik Belghali, who also impressed at the recent World Cup with Algeria, has also been considered. The situation remains fluid as Inter seek a reliable long-term solution at right-back.
