A complex transfer situation is developing involving Andrea Cambiaso of Juventus, Marco Palestra, and Davide Frattesi, with Inter Milan potentially entering the fray. Chelsea had previously expressed strong interest in Cambiaso, with manager Xabi Alonso reportedly a long-time admirer, while also pursuing Palestra, who was a primary target for Inter.
However, Chelsea ultimately shifted their focus, opting to pursue Palestra and securing his signature with a reported salary of €6 million net per year. This left Inter without their preferred target and Cambiaso potentially open to a move to the Premier League, though interest also emerged from Barcelona. Now, Inter are considering Cambiaso as a potential replacement for Denzel Dumfries, who has been sold to Real Madrid.
Juventus value Cambiaso at a minimum of €40 million, a fee Inter currently deem too high. They are also assessing whether Cambiaso’s profile would adequately fill the void left by Dumfries. The situation has become more urgent for Inter due to time constraints, forcing them to consider alternatives previously lower on their list. Inter manager Luciano Spalletti is known to be a fan of Davide Frattesi, having previously utilized him effectively during his time as national team manager, where Frattesi was the top scorer with seven goals.
This has led to preliminary discussions between Inter and Juventus regarding a potential swap deal involving Frattesi and Cambiaso. Juventus had previously offered defender Federico Gatti to lower Inter’s financial demands, but a straight swap is now being explored. Inter are also hoping to secure a fee for Frattesi, with Nottingham Forest emerging as another potential suitor capable of meeting his €30 million valuation. Accepting a swap involving Cambiaso would require Inter to pay a fee to Juventus, but it would still be less than the €50 million plus bonuses previously demanded for Palestra. The situation is fluid, but this potential exchange could see Frattesi move to Juventus and Cambiaso to Inter, with Palestra completing his move to Chelsea. Juventus are also reportedly monitoring Liverpool’s Curtis Jones as a potential midfield reinforcement.
