Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has received a vote of confidence regarding potential signings from his former club, Bournemouth. According to pundit Alan Shearer, Iraola is well-positioned to bring both Eli Junior Kroupi and Alex Scott to Anfield in a deal worth up to £180 million. This comes after Iraola replaced Arne Slot as Liverpool’s manager following their fifth-place finish in the Premier League.
Liverpool have already confirmed the arrival of centre-back Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, but have seen Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Ibrahima Konate depart on free transfers. This has created a need for reinforcement, and Iraola is reportedly targeting players he knows well from his time at Bournemouth. Both Kroupi and Scott have also attracted interest from other top clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Kroupi enjoyed a successful debut season with Bournemouth, scoring 13 goals in 35 appearances across all competitions. He primarily played as a central striker but is versatile enough to operate in deeper roles. Bournemouth’s asking price for the striker has reportedly risen to £100 million (€116m) after initially being valued at £86 million (€100m). Scott, a midfielder, is valued at around £80 million (€92.6m) and is seen as a potential box-to-box addition to Liverpool’s midfield alongside Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Shearer believes Iraola’s existing relationship with both players gives Liverpool an advantage in securing their signatures. He highlighted Bournemouth’s impressive recruitment strategy as a key reason why their players are attracting attention from larger clubs. While acknowledging the challenge of managing a club the size of Liverpool, Shearer praised Iraola’s work at Bournemouth and believes he deserves the opportunity. The potential arrival of Kroupi and Scott would significantly strengthen Liverpool’s squad and provide Iraola with a strong foundation as he begins his tenure at Anfield. Manchester United are also reportedly interested in Scott, potentially creating a competitive transfer battle.
