Curtis Jones and Federico Chiesa are the Liverpool players most likely to depart Anfield this summer, according to a report by The Athletic. The potential exits come as new manager Andoni Iraola assesses his squad ahead of the new season, though a departure for Mohamed Salah remains a possibility despite having one year left on his contract.
Inter Milan have already submitted two bids for Jones, reportedly reaching around €25million, but both offers have been rejected as Liverpool currently value the midfielder at approximately £40million. Jones himself is reportedly open to a move to the Serie A champions, but negotiations are stalled due to the valuation gap, particularly given he has only a year remaining on his current deal.
Chiesa’s future is anticipated to be in Italy, though his next club remains undecided. The Athletic’s report suggests these two are the most probable departures, although both players will first have discussions with Iraola to understand his plans.
Meanwhile, Harvey Elliott, who recently returned from a loan spell at Aston Villa, has been given a chance to impress Iraola during pre-season. Elliott also has one year left on his contract, and if he fails to secure a place in the squad, a transfer to Crystal Palace could materialize, according to Sky Sports. The Athletic notes that Elliott needs regular game time, and will assess his options closer to the start of the campaign.
Additionally, TEAMtalk reports that Liverpool are monitoring Marcus Tavernier, a Premier League player who has also attracted interest from Aston Villa and Fulham. This suggests Iraola is exploring options to bolster the squad, even as he considers potential departures. The arrival of Iraola could signal a shift in personnel at Anfield, with several players’ futures uncertain as the club prepares for a new era.
