The Jordan Football Association has announced its final 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup, featuring Stade Rennais winger Mousa Al-Tamari. The announcement, made on June 2nd, confirms Al-Tamari’s place in Jamal Sellami’s team for the tournament.
Al-Tamari is one of only two Europe-based players selected in the squad, alongside Ibrahim Sabra of Lokomotiva Zagreb. This highlights the reliance Sellami places on players competing in stronger leagues ahead of the competition. Al-Tamari has been a consistent performer for Rennes in Ligue 1, contributing goals and assists as a key attacking threat.
Jordan has been drawn into a challenging Group C, where they will face Austria, Algeria, and reigning World Cup champions Argentina. Their match against Argentina is expected to be a significant occasion, potentially offering a chance to make a statement against one of the world’s best teams, particularly if Argentina have already qualified for the next round.
The squad features a mix of players from domestic leagues and those based abroad, with representation from clubs in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and several other Asian nations. Yazeed Abulaila of Al-Hussein, Noureddin Bani Attiah of Al-Faisaly, and Abdallah Al-Fakhouri of Al-Wehdat will compete for the goalkeeping position. Experienced defenders like Yazan Al-Arab, currently with Seoul FC, and Husam Abu Dahba of Al-Faisaly are also included. The inclusion of Al-Tamari provides a focal point in attack for Jordan, and his form for Rennes will be crucial to their chances in the tournament.
The team will be hoping to make a mark in their first World Cup appearance, and Al-Tamari’s presence offers a potential spark of creativity and goalscoring threat.
