Juventus and Milan are set to compete for the signature of Alexander Sorloth this summer, both clubs prioritizing the acquisition of a prolific goalscorer capable of netting 20 goals per season. According to reports in Italy, both clubs are keen to avoid repeating past transfer failures in the striker position, referencing previous unsuccessful pursuits of players like David, Openda, Gimenez, Morata, Fullkrug, and Nkunku.
Sorloth, currently at Atletico Madrid, is viewed as a viable and potentially affordable option. The 30-year-old Norwegian forward earns a reported €3 million per season in wages, a figure considered sustainable for both Italian clubs. His profile – a physically imposing centre-forward capable of leading the line – aligns with the requirements of both Juventus manager Max Allegri and AC Milan’s Luciano Spalletti.
Atletico Madrid are reportedly willing to part with Sorloth for a fee in the region of €35 million, potentially negotiable down to €30 million plus bonuses. He scored 20 goals in all competitions for Atletico Madrid last season, despite often featuring as a substitute, including 13 goals in La Liga and 6 in the Champions League. He also made a significant contribution in the Spanish Super Cup.
Juventus have already begun preliminary discussions with Sorloth’s representatives, although they face competition from unnamed Premier League clubs. However, the Italian clubs may benefit from the fact that the English sides interested will not be competing in European competitions next season. Juventus are also monitoring other options, including Randal Kolo Muani of Paris Saint-Germain, who is seeking a return to Italy after a disappointing spell at Tottenham Hotspur, and Joshua Zirkzee, currently at Manchester United, whose agent is actively seeking a move for his client. Kolo Muani is valued at between €30-35 million, while Zirkzee may be available for a slightly lower fee.
