Juventus are accelerating talks to re-sign Tarik Muharemovic from Sassuolo, according to reports in Italy. The move comes amid uncertainty surrounding Alessandro Bastoni’s situation at Inter and a breakdown in negotiations with Bologna for Jhon Lucumi.
Discussions between Juventus and Sassuolo are progressing well, with an agreement expected shortly after Muharemovic returns from international duty. Juventus officials Giovanni Carnevali and Marco Ottolini are reportedly pushing for a swift resolution to the transfer. The potential for Premier League clubs to enter the race for Lucumi, and Bologna’s reluctance to lower their asking price, have prompted Juventus to prioritize the acquisition of Muharemovic.
This isn’t the first time Muharemovic has been linked with a move to a top Italian club; Inter had also shown interest in the Bosnian defender for several months, but ultimately pursued other targets, including Lazar Solet of Udinese. Juventus believe the deal represents good value, with a fee of around €18 million being discussed – significantly below Muharemovic’s market value.
Muharemovic is already familiar with the Juventus environment, having previously been part of their youth setup, scouted by Matteo Tognozzi, who also brought Dean Huijsen to the club. The need for defensive reinforcements is pressing for Juventus, with Lloyd Kelly potentially returning to England and Federico Gatti’s future uncertain. Juventus manager Massimiliano Spalletti has been informed of the potential signing and is awaiting further developments. Yildiz and Muharemovic are also known to be close friends, which could help with a smooth integration into the team. The signing of Muharemovic would add depth and experience to Juventus’s backline as they aim to challenge for Serie A honors next season.
