Juventus are exploring a move for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, according to reports in Italy. The club is seeking a new shot-stopper and has identified the England international as a potential target, alongside other options including Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez and former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.
Discussions with Martínez’s representatives are progressing well, with the player reportedly open to a transfer to Turin even without Champions League football. However, Juventus are aware of the significant financial demands from Aston Villa regarding both a transfer fee and the player’s wages. This has prompted the club to simultaneously investigate alternative goalkeeping solutions.
Pickford, 30, has reportedly instructed his representatives to gauge interest from major European clubs. After nine seasons with Everton, where the team has consistently finished mid-table, he is seeking a move to a more ambitious club competing in European competitions. His qualities – described as charismatic, reliable, and capable with the ball at his feet – align with the profile sought by Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti.
Spalletti previously considered Pickford as a potential replacement for Alex Ospina during his time at Napoli, ultimately opting for Alex Meret. Juventus officials do not foresee issues regarding Pickford’s wage demands, but Everton are expected to request around €20 million for his transfer. This figure is considered relatively high given Pickford’s age, as he will turn 33 in March.
Juventus are also monitoring the situation with David de Gea, who Fiorentina are willing to sell to reduce the age and wage bill of their squad. A transfer for de Gea could cost between €8-10 million. Guglielmo Vicario, currently at Tottenham, has also been offered to Juventus, but Spalletti is not fully convinced. The club are also keeping tabs on developments surrounding Alisson, though his situation is complicated by the arrival of a new manager at Aston Villa and potential interest from Saudi Arabian clubs.
