Juventus are reportedly considering Enrico Paresce for the position of Head of Scouting, according to sources at Tuttosport. The potential appointment comes after the arrival of Frederic Massara as Chief Football Officer, shifting the club’s focus away from initial interest in Davide Cangini, currently the Director of Scouting at Sassuolo.
Cangini had emerged as a strong candidate following Giovanni Carnevali’s appointment as Juventus’s new CEO, with Carnevali reportedly impressed by Cangini’s six seasons at Sassuolo and his blend of data-driven analysis with a strong network of contacts. However, Massara’s arrival has prompted a reassessment of the role and a potential return for Paresce.
Paresce recently served as Head of Scouting for Torino, though his tenure was cut short by a change in ownership at the club. Prior to his time at Torino, Paresce worked extensively with Massara, beginning over a decade ago at Roma under then-Sporting Director Walter Sabatini. He later followed Massara to Spezia and then to Milan, where he served as a scout and contributed to the squad that won the Serie A title in the 2021/2022 season.
Most recently, Paresce was appointed Head of Scouting at Rennes, holding the same position he is now being considered for at Juventus. Massara is believed to want Paresce to oversee international scouting and identify financially viable targets for the club. While no direct contact has been made between Juventus and Paresce at this stage, reports suggest he would be open to the challenge. The appointment of Paresce would signal a shift towards relying on experienced scouting networks, rather than external consultants or purely algorithmic analysis, as Juventus rebuilds its sporting structure.
This potential move represents a significant step in completing Juventus’s new directorial structure, aiming to provide a solid foundation for future operations.
