Juventus Director Comolli Hints at Ambitious Summer Transfer Plans
Juventus sporting director Damien Comolli has outlined the club's intention to make a major statement in the upcoming transfer window, confirming the club's ambition to sign "big" players to challenge for the Serie A title. The Bianconeri, who have secured a top-four finish under Luciano Spalletti, are targeting a significant squad upgrade.
Speaking at an event for Juventus' paralympic team, Comolli confirmed the club's market strategy. "We have a very good team and will have a transfer market worthy of a team that wants to win the Scudetto," the French executive said, according to reports from his appearance in Pinerolo. He emphasized that the club would not overhaul the squad but seek a few high-impact signings to elevate the existing group.
While Comolli did not name specific players, he acknowledged the club's pursuit of high-profile targets. When asked about specific links to Manchester City's Bernardo Silva and Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, he stated he would not comment on names but emphasized Juventus's enduring allure. "The players we have spoken to are not asking us if we are in the Champions League. Players want to come to Juventus because it is Juventus," he said, as reported by Italian media.
Reports from Italy have strongly linked Juventus with moves for both Bernardo Silva, whose contract with Manchester City expires this summer, and Liverpool's Alisson, whose contract also expires in June. Comolli described Silva as a model professional and the "right profile" for the club's project, though he insisted he does not comment on specific names. The club is also reportedly interested in other high-profile free agents, including Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski and Bayern Munich's Leon Goretzka, though the latter is also a target for AC Milan.
In addition to new signings, Juventus are focused on securing the futures of their key players. Comolli confirmed that contract talks are ongoing with striker Dusan Vlahovic, whose current deal is set to expire. "The sporting director has had some chats with Dusan. Don't expect anything before the end of the season, but we hope to have some interesting news," Comolli said. The club is also working on a contract extension for captain Manuel Locatelli.
Comolli praised the work of manager Luciano Spalletti, who recently signed a contract extension until 2028. Since Spalletti's arrival in late October, Juventus have averaged two points per game, a form that would typically challenge for the title. Comolli acknowledged the team is still a step behind the top of the table but believes the current squad provides a "very solid base" for a title challenge next season with the right additions. The director stressed the importance of signing players with the right personality and winning mentality to help the team's younger talents develop.
With the season concluding, Juventus are now focused on securing a top-three finish and are just one point behind AC Milan in third place. Comolli emphasized the club's high standards, stating that the history and pressure of representing Juventus is a source of strength, not a burden, for players who join the club.
