Juventus are preparing to actively pursue Parma forward Mateo Pellegrino, with a potential transfer hinging on the sale of defender Tarik Muharemović to a Premier League club, reportedly Leeds United. According to reports from Tuttosport, the sale of Muharemović could generate around €20 million for Juventus, providing crucial funds for incoming transfers.
Juventus have identified a goalkeeper and a centre-forward as priority positions this transfer window, but have faced obstacles in their pursuit of both. Aston Villa are reportedly unwilling to sell goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, with manager Unai Emery and director Damian Vidagany dismissing speculation surrounding his departure. Similarly, negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for Randal Kolo Muani have stalled, with a significant gap remaining in valuation, as confirmed by PSG administrator Giovanni Carnevali.
The potential arrival of Pellegrino is seen as a strategic move to secure a promising attacker while navigating the complexities of the wider transfer market. The club are hoping to preempt interest from Premier League clubs in the Argentinian forward. Pellegrino’s transfer could take the form of a loan with an obligation to buy, dependent on performance-related clauses, or a permanent deal. Parma would reportedly prefer a permanent transfer, with a fee potentially reaching €28 million including bonuses, starting at a base of €22 million.
Juventus are also monitoring their midfield options, with Khephren Thuram currently undergoing treatment for a femoral-rotulian syndrome. Thuram’s fitness and potential sale could pave the way for a move for free agent Franck Kessie, formerly of AC Milan. However, Kessie’s wage demands, reportedly in the range of €4.5-5 million per season, are proving to be a stumbling block, with Juventus hesitant to exceed that figure given his previous high earnings in the Saudi Pro League. The club are prioritizing departures to create space in the squad and wage bill before committing to further additions.
