Juventus are set to continue with their current leadership structure, prioritizing continuity after a period of internal assessment, according to reports in Italy. Club president John Elkann has been in intensive discussions with sporting director Damien Comolli, manager Luciano Spalletti, and club legend Giorgio Chiellini in recent days, with final decisions expected imminently.
Elkann is currently in Turin, with planned visits to the club’s training facilities, as the ownership group appears hesitant to embark on another complete overhaul of the squad or management. The prevailing sentiment is one of compromise, with Comolli and Spalletti expected to continue in their roles, and Chiellini positioned as a key intermediary between the two.
Comolli publicly affirmed the club’s unified vision, stating, “There is no Plan A or Plan B, the plan is unique. We want to build a team to win in the future. Nothing changes.” He emphasized his commitment to working with Spalletti to identify areas for improvement and build a stronger team, acknowledging shared responsibility for past shortcomings. This statement appears to directly address concerns raised by Spalletti, who previously expressed his desire to be involved in shaping the future of the club.
Juventus are also exploring the possibility of bringing in Matteo Tognozzi, currently the sporting director of Rio Ave, to bolster their recruitment team. Tognozzi’s potential arrival could provide a direct line of communication between Spalletti and Chiellini, though it would potentially reduce Comolli’s authority within the sporting area. Elkann is reportedly seeking assurances that Comolli and Spalletti can work together effectively.
Elkann has already acknowledged the need for change, stating that “several things didn’t work” during the recent season, and that the issues are “very clear” to both Spalletti and the ownership. The coming week is crucial in determining whether a cohesive path forward can be established, ensuring the long-term stability and success of the club.
