Juventus monitor Thuram fitness ahead of crucial Milan clash
Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram is expected to take a partial step back into first-team training on Thursday as the club manages a series of injury concerns ahead of Sunday's Serie A match against AC Milan. According to reports from Italy, Thuram was among several players who worked separately on Wednesday, but his condition is being monitored daily with a view to a possible return to the squad for the weekend fixture at San Siro.
The 23-year-old Frenchman, who joined Juventus from Nice last summer, came off the bench in last weekend's draw with Bologna. His potential availability provides a boost for manager Massimiliano Allegri, whose squad is navigating a tight race for Champions League qualification. Alongside Thuram, forwards Kenan Yildiz and Dusan Vlahovic, as well as defender Emil Holm, also undertook individualized work due to various physical issues.
Vlahovic's situation appears the most delicate, with the Serbian striker reportedly the most complicated to recover in time, though he is said to be targeting a return. Yildiz is managing inflammation in his left knee, while Holm is dealing with an overload in his right calf. The club's medical staff, led by coach Allegri, will make final decisions based on the players' responses in the last two training sessions before the match.
The return of young midfielder Vasilije Adzic to partial group training on Thursday offers further encouragement. The Montenegrin had been sidelined since late March and his gradual reintegration adds depth to the midfield options. Juventus currently sit third in Serie A, with the match against second-placed Milan carrying significant weight for the final Champions League places.
Thuram's first season in Turin has been one of adaptation, making 22 league appearances largely from the bench as he acclimatizes to Italian football. His physical presence and ball-carrying ability are assets Allegri has utilized in the latter stages of matches. Securing a positive result at the San Siro could prove pivotal for Juventus's ambitions, making the fitness of key players like Thuram a central narrative in the build-up.
