Juventus have proposed a swap deal to Tottenham Hotspur involving goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and left-back Destiny Udogie in exchange for forward Jonathan David, according to Italian outlet TuttoJuve. The move comes as Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi aims to overhaul the club’s attacking options this summer, with at least two new wingers and potentially two new strikers expected to arrive in North London.
Spurs have been linked with David, a Canada international, for several years. Despite a relatively quiet season with Juventus, scoring six goals and providing four assists in 35 Serie A appearances, the 26-year-old boasts a strong overall goalscoring record, having netted 154 times in 362 career games, including 109 goals during his time with Lille. His movement and finishing ability could address Tottenham’s struggles in front of goal since the departure of Harry Kane.
Juventus are reportedly keen to secure a new goalkeeper, and see Vicario as a potential solution, despite his inconsistent form following hernia surgery and Antonin Kinsky being preferred towards the end of the season. They are also interested in Udogie as a potential replacement for Andrea Cambiaso, who has attracted attention from several Premier League clubs including Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal.
However, Udogie’s time at Tottenham has been hampered by injury problems, leading the club to consider cashing in on the 23-year-old. While David’s current valuation may be lower than the combined worth of Vicario and Udogie, Tottenham could potentially negotiate a deal that sees Vicario move to Juventus while retaining Udogie in their squad, depending on De Zerbi’s preferences. The club are anticipating a busy summer as they look to improve on consecutive 17th-place finishes in the Premier League.
