Juventus have made a last-ditch offer to forward Dusan Vlahovic, proposing a one-year contract extension worth up to €8 million including bonuses, according to reports in Italy. The offer comes as the club seeks to retain the Serbian international amidst uncertainty over his future at the Allianz Stadium.
Vlahovic arrived in Turin in January of four years ago and has been a consistent, though sometimes inconsistent, performer for the Bianconeri. Last season was hampered by a significant injury, impacting his overall contribution. New Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti is keen to build his attack around Vlahovic, and club officials Giovanni Carnevali are attempting to accommodate the coach’s wishes.
Negotiations had previously stalled due to a significant gap between the club’s offer and Vlahovic’s demands, coupled with a perceived lack of harmony between the player and the previous club leadership. However, a change in direction at the highest level of the club, led by John Elkann, has prompted a reassessment of the situation and the new contract proposal. The one-year extension is viewed as a compromise, allowing both parties to evaluate their options without committing to a long-term deal.
Despite interest from several European clubs, concrete offers for Vlahovic have been limited. Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Tottenham have all shown tentative interest but have not made formal bids. Several Turkish clubs, including Besiktas and Galatasaray, have expressed strong interest, particularly given potential departures of current forwards. Vlahovic’s father and representative, Milos Vlahovic, is currently considering the options. The proposed contract would see Vlahovic earn a similar wage to teammate Jonathan David, and potentially exceed the earnings of Kenan Yildiz, contingent on achieving specific performance-related bonuses, such as Champions League qualification and success in the Europa League.
Juventus are eager to resolve the situation quickly to avoid complications in their summer transfer plans. Spalletti believes Vlahovic is a key component of his team, and retaining him would avoid the need to pursue multiple forward signings. A decision is expected within days, with both sides facing a critical juncture in their planning for the upcoming season.
