Juventus sign Arthur Melo from Fiorentina in €40m deal
Juventus have completed the permanent signing of midfielder Arthur Melo from Serie A rivals Fiorentina for a reported €40m fee. The Brazilian has signed a four-year contract with the Turin club through June 2028.
The 27-year-old joins after an impressive season on loan at Fiorentina, where he made 35 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing seven assists. Juventus moved decisively to secure his services after including a €40m purchase option in last summer's loan agreement.
This transfer provides Juventus with much-needed midfield stability following Paul Pogba's confirmed departure and Adrien Rabiot's uncertain future. Arthur's familiarity with Serie A after two seasons in Florence proved crucial in the decision, with manager Thiago Motta describing him as "a ready-made solution for our tactical system."
For Fiorentina, the sale represents significant financial reinforcement as they prepare for European football next season. Club sources indicate the funds will help finance their pursuit of Verona's Michael Folorunsho and Barcelona's Fermín López as midfield replacements.
Arthur's career resurgence in Italy follows a challenging period that included an underwhelming loan spell at Liverpool in 2022-23. The former Barcelona player now becomes Juventus' third summer signing as they rebuild under Motta's new project.
