Juventus striker Arek Milik sidelined with thigh injury
Juventus striker Arek Milik is expected to miss the next month of the Serie A season after suffering a thigh injury in training. The club confirmed on Wednesday that the Polish international has sustained a medium-grade lesion to the biceps femoris muscle in his right thigh, with a recovery timeline of approximately 20 to 30 days.
According to the club's medical statement, the injury occurred during a training session on Tuesday, April 14. Milik underwent radiological examinations at the J-Medical center, which revealed the extent of the muscle problem. The club noted that further checks will be conducted in about ten days to define a more precise recovery schedule.
The injury rules Milik out of several crucial fixtures in Juventus's pursuit of a top-four finish. He will certainly miss the upcoming league matches against Bologna, AC Milan, and Hellas Verona. A potential return could be targeted for the match against Lecce on May 10, but sources close to the medical staff suggest a more cautious approach is likely given the player's injury history.
This setback compounds manager Massimiliano Allegri's attacking woes, as the team is already without the suspended Dusan Vlahovic for the next match. Milik, 30, has served as a key deputy this season, making 33 appearances across all competitions and scoring seven goals. His absence leaves a significant gap in the forward rotation alongside Moise Kean and the occasionally deployed Federico Chiesa.
The injury comes at a critical juncture for Juventus, who recently reclaimed fourth place in Serie A. The club faces a tight battle with Bologna for Champions League qualification. Milik's potential unavailability could stretch until the final matchdays, with some reports from Italian media suggesting a return against Fiorentina on May 17 or even the season finale against Torino on May 24 is more probable.
Milik joined Juventus on a permanent deal in 2023 after an initial loan from Olympique Marseille. His time in Turin has been intermittently disrupted by muscular problems, which the medical team will now manage carefully to ensure his availability for the season's climax, should Juventus secure a European final or maintain their league position.
