Juventus are pursuing a move for Atletico Madrid captain Koke, according to reports in Italy. The 34-year-old midfielder is being considered as a potential reinforcement for Luciano Spalletti’s squad as the club aims to challenge for the Serie A title next season, even without Champions League football.
Juventus’s sporting director, Damien Comolli, is reportedly keen to replicate the success Beppe Marotta had in quickly revitalizing the club during his tenure. Following a disappointing season that culminated in Europa League qualification, Comolli is under pressure to deliver significant improvements to the squad. Koke’s experience and winning mentality – having won two La Liga titles and three Europa League trophies with Atletico – make him an attractive option.
The potential move for Koke emerged during discussions between the two clubs regarding Nico Gonzalez, who recently completed a loan spell with Atletico. While Manuel Locatelli’s position in the team is secure, the addition of Koke would provide further depth and competition in midfield, potentially allowing for tactical flexibility with formations including a three-man midfield. Koke could rotate with Locatelli in a two-man setup, or play alongside him in a more advanced role.
Alongside the pursuit of Koke, Juventus are also navigating the complex contract renewal talks with striker Dusan Vlahovic. His current deal expires at the end of the month, and several top European clubs – including Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Barcelona, and Newcastle – are reportedly interested. Juventus are hesitant to exceed a certain salary offer, and a crucial meeting is scheduled to determine Vlahovic’s future. As an alternative, the club are also monitoring Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani, with discussions having taken place with Paris Saint-Germain officials in Budapest. They are also considering Jean-Philippe Mateta of Crystal Palace.
Further defensive reinforcements are also being considered, with Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez emerging as a potential replacement should their pursuit of Alisson Becker from Liverpool fall through. Juventus are also exploring the possibility of a loan deal for Kim Min-jae, currently at Napoli, in case Bremer departs. Brahim Diaz of Real Madrid remains a target for the attacking midfield position, and Emerson Palmieri, formerly of Spalletti’s Napoli, is being evaluated as a low-cost option at left-back. The club are also reportedly looking to offload players signed under Comolli’s first summer transfer window.
