Juventus to rival Benfica for free agent Raphael Guerreiro
Juventus are ready to compete with Benfica for the signature of Bayern Munich's Raphael Guerreiro, according to reports from Italy. The Portuguese international will become a free agent this summer after Bayern confirmed they would not be extending his contract.
Italian newspaper Tuttosport reports that the Serie A side are preparing a contract offer for the 32-year-old, worth approximately €3 million per season. The move would reunite Guerreiro with former Borussia Dortmund coach Massimiliano Allegri, who is set to return to the Juventus bench.
Benfica are also said to hold a strong interest in bringing the versatile player back to a league where he previously starred for Sporting CP. Guerreiro joined Bayern on a free transfer last summer but saw his playing time limited, making just 15 Bundesliga appearances.
Throughout his career, Guerreiro has been primarily deployed as a left-back or left midfielder. However, under incoming Bayern coach Vincent Kompany during the latter part of the season, he was often used in a central attacking midfield role, highlighting his adaptability. His experience and technical quality on a free transfer present a low-risk opportunity for Juventus as they look to add depth and tactical flexibility to their squad for the upcoming campaign.
