Juventus Women are set to appoint José Luis Sánchez Vera as their new manager, according to reports in Italy. The club is seeking a replacement for Massimiliano Canzi, whose contract was terminated a year ahead of schedule after a two-year spell in charge.
Sánchez Vera, aged 41, currently manages Madrid CFF in the Spanish Primera División, and is due to oversee his final match with the club this weekend. Juventus’ interest in the Spanish coach reportedly began under former sporting director Stefano Braghin, with the club impressed by his tactical approach and playing style. The search for a new manager has continued following Braghin’s departure, with the focus remaining on finding a coach who can build upon the existing foundations of the women’s team.
Alongside Sánchez Vera, Juventus are also considering Lluis Cortes, the current manager of the Saudi Arabian women’s national team, as a potential candidate. However, Sánchez Vera appears to be the leading contender at this stage. The appointment will be crucial as Juventus look to reshape their squad for the upcoming season.
Several player movements have already been confirmed, with Franziska Krumbiegel departing to join Eintracht Frankfurt. Meanwhile, contracts for Giulia Capeta and Beatrice Beccari have been renewed, though Beccari is currently sidelined with a knee injury. The club is now focused on resolving the futures of other players within the squad. Recent reports suggest the club is also monitoring potential signings, but no deals have been confirmed yet.
Massimiliano Mazzetta, previously Braghin’s deputy, is expected to take on a leading role within the club’s organizational structure. There is also speculation that Marta Carissimi, a former player and current head of the women’s area at Genoa, could be brought in to further strengthen the team’s management. Carissimi has a pre-existing working relationship with Juventus’ current sporting director Ottolini, which could facilitate her arrival. The club is aiming for continuity in its approach to the women’s game, despite the changes in personnel.
