Wolfsburg have confirmed the permanent departures of Jakub Kaminski, Nicolas Cozza, and Bartol Franjic as the club continues to reshape its squad following relegation from the Bundesliga. All three players spent the 2023/24 season on loan, and Wolfsburg have now announced they will not return to the Volkswagen Arena.
Jakub Kaminski will remain in the Bundesliga, joining Köln on a permanent transfer after a productive loan spell. The Polish winger significantly improved his goalscoring form, netting seven league goals for Köln, surpassing his total of four from his entire time with Wolfsburg. He played a key role in Köln’s successful fight against relegation in their first season back in the top flight, although Köln have yet to release an official statement confirming the transfer.
Bartol Franjic will join Serie A side Venezia after the Italian club triggered an obligation to buy clause in his loan agreement. Venezia secured promotion to Serie A as champions of Serie B, although Franjic featured in only half of their matches during the campaign. Nicolas Cozza’s future remains in Ligue 2, despite his loan spell with Nantes ending in relegation. The club experienced a tumultuous season, culminating in fan protests and the departure of coach Vahid Halilhodzic.
These departures follow earlier confirmations regarding Aster Vranckx, who spent the season with Sassuolo, and Andreas Skov Olsen, who was on loan at Rangers. Wolfsburg have now confirmed six departures in total since their relegation was sealed on Monday, signaling a major overhaul of the playing squad. The club is expected to announce further changes as they prepare for life in the 2. Bundesliga and attempt to rebuild for a swift return to the top tier.
Kaminski’s move to Köln provides the winger with a clear pathway for regular first-team football, while Wolfsburg clear space in their squad and reduce their wage bill.
