Rasmus Kristensen is poised to leave Eintracht Frankfurt to rejoin FC Midtjylland, the club he began his professional career with. According to reports from Tipsbladet, the Danish defender has already agreed personal terms with the Danish Superliga side on a contract extending until 2031.
Negotiations between Frankfurt and Midtjylland are reportedly progressing well, with a final agreement anticipated in the near future. Kristensen initially arrived at Frankfurt on a loan deal from Leeds United in 2022, becoming a key component of the team’s defense. The Bundesliga club then finalized a permanent transfer for approximately €9.5 million.
During his time in Frankfurt, Kristensen made 71 appearances, establishing himself as a regular starter under various managers. The 28-year-old’s versatility and consistent performances made him a valuable asset, contributing to Frankfurt’s stability at the back. He has also been a consistent presence in the Denmark national team, earning several caps throughout his career.
Kristensen initially rose through the ranks at Midtjylland’s academy, making his senior debut for the club before attracting interest from abroad. A return to his boyhood club represents a significant move for the player, offering him the opportunity to contribute to a team he is intimately familiar with. While Frankfurt will lose a reliable defender, the reported agreement suggests a mutually acceptable outcome for all parties.
The move could provide Midtjylland with a much-needed boost in defensive quality as they look to compete at the top of the Danish Superliga. Kristensen’s experience playing in the Bundesliga and his international experience will be invaluable to the club’s ambitions.
