Juventus are increasing their interest in Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, according to reports from TuttoSport. The move comes after previous pursuits of Aston Villa’s Dibu Martinez and Benfica’s Svilar – the latter of which fell through due to the wishes of Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini and Roma’s ownership.
Vicario, who has a contract with Tottenham until 2028, is expected to leave the London club, and Juventus view him as a potential long-term replacement for Monza’s Alessandro Di Gregorio. Initial stumbling blocks revolved around Tottenham’s asking price of €20 million, but a recent shift towards a loan deal with an option to buy could facilitate the transfer.
The 29-year-old Vicario is reportedly eager to join Juventus after seeing a potential move to Inter collapse, with the Nerazzurri opting to promote their existing goalkeeper, Martinez, instead. He has already indicated his departure from Tottenham, with the approval of manager Roberto De Zerbi. Vicario reportedly views a move to Turin as a positive step in his career.
Juventus remain interested in acquiring Dibu Martinez from Aston Villa, but the Argentine’s wage demands – reportedly €5 million per year for three years – and Villa’s asking price, exceeding €10 million, are creating a stalemate. The club is also exploring other options, including Parma goalkeeper Suzuki, but his estimated €30 million valuation and interest from Premier League clubs make a deal difficult.
Juventus are also pursuing other targets, including Randal Kolo Muani, with further talks planned. The club is prioritizing players who represent value for money, avoiding significant investment in players who are not considered to be in their prime. The arrival of Vicario would represent a step in that direction, potentially solidifying the goalkeeping position ahead of the new season and allowing manager Luciano Spalletti to focus on building his squad.
