Juventus are continuing their search for a new goalkeeper, a pursuit that has been publicly complicated by the agent of current shot-stopper Michele Di Gregorio. Carlo Alberto Belloni, Di Gregorio’s representative, released a strongly worded statement on Instagram criticizing the club’s recent managerial and directorial turnover – citing 20 managerial changes in two seasons – and defending his client’s performance.
Belloni pointed to Di Gregorio’s Sofascore ranking as the fourth-best goalkeeper in Serie A, ahead of Inter’s Yann Sommer and Alex Meret of Napoli, and criticized the club’s significant investment of €130 million on underperforming attackers. He further highlighted the statistical disparity in goals conceded between Juventus (34) and league champions Inter (25), and goals scored (Juventus 61, Inter 82), suggesting the blame for the team’s shortcomings is misplaced. Belloni confirmed Di Gregorio has three years remaining on his contract with Juventus and will attend pre-season training, while remaining open to potential opportunities, noting his client is on the shortlist of several European clubs.
The Juventus board, however, reportedly do not share Belloni’s assessment and remain unconvinced by Di Gregorio’s suitability, with concerns over his performance when facing shots (conceding on 46% of shots faced, the highest percentage in Serie A). Attempts to sign Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez have stalled due to the English club’s €10 million valuation, while Roma are unwilling to part with Mile Svilar despite a €40 million offer from Juventus.
As a result, Guglielmo Vicario, currently at Tottenham Hotspur, has re-emerged as a potential target. The Italian international is reportedly open to leaving Tottenham, where his contract runs until 2028 with no renewal talks currently underway. However, Tottenham are not considering a simple loan deal and are seeking an obligation to buy linked to specific performance-related targets. Juventus have already moved to address their future goalkeeping options, selling Giovanni Daffara to Parma for €6 million plus a 20% future sale clause, and are reportedly monitoring Lorenzo Palmisani of Frosinone.
