Juventus are again showing interest in Celta Vigo right-back Oscar Mingueza, according to reports from TuttoSport. The club initially pursued the Spaniard during the January transfer window, but a deal failed to materialize due to disagreements over a transfer fee.
Celta Vigo reportedly demanded a compensation fee of at least €2 million for Mingueza, a figure Juventus were unwilling to meet given he would not have been a guaranteed starter. The club opted instead for a loan deal for Emil Holm from Bologna to address the immediate need at right-back. Holm has since returned to Bologna, leaving Juventus again assessing options in that position.
However, Juventus now face significant competition for Mingueza’s signature, with several Premier League clubs expressing strong interest. Aston Villa are currently leading the race, offering a more attractive financial package and the appeal of Champions League football following their Europa League triumph. Villarreal in Spain are also monitoring the situation closely.
Mingueza, born in 1999, came through the famed La Masia academy at Barcelona before moving to Celta Vigo. Juventus’ sporting director, Marco Ottolini, has maintained contact with the player’s representatives and continues to view him as a potential reinforcement. The Bianconeri’s ability to compete financially with Premier League clubs is a significant obstacle, and their plans may depend on the future of Andrea Cambiaso at left-back. Juventus may need to sell Cambiaso before making a firm move for Mingueza.
Despite the challenges, Ottolini remains hopeful of bringing Mingueza to Turin, viewing him as a valuable addition to a position already well-covered by Pierre Kalulu. The potential to acquire Mingueza on a free transfer is also appealing to the club.
