Juventus are nearing a deal to sign Andrea Liberali from Serie B side Catanzaro, according to reports in Italy. The move could materialize quickly, with Juventus’s sporting director, Giovanni Carnevali, having previously tracked the player during his time at Sassuolo. Carnevali reportedly remains a strong admirer of the 19-year-old midfielder.
Liberali progressed through the ranks at AC Milan, playing for their youth team Milan Futuro before moving to Catanzaro. He has demonstrated considerable potential in Serie B, prompting interest from larger clubs. While not immediately expected to become a first-team regular at Juventus, the club views him as a promising talent for the future.
The transfer fee is expected to be €6 million, with €3 million going to Catanzaro and €3 million to AC Milan, due to a clause in his previous contract. Liberali is seen as a player ready to make the step up to Serie A, and Juventus believe their current rebuilding phase could provide a suitable environment for his development.
Rather than a loan to a smaller Serie A club to guarantee playing time, Juventus are considering integrating Liberali into the squad as a potential understudy to Manuel Locatelli. This would allow him to learn from a more experienced player while gradually adapting to the demands of top-flight football. The club also recognizes Liberali’s potential to represent Italy at the international level, adding another dimension to the appeal of the transfer.
Juventus are undergoing a significant period of reconstruction under coach Luciano Spalletti, and the acquisition of young talents like Liberali is seen as crucial to building a sustainable future. The club is looking to blend experience with emerging players, and Liberali fits the profile of a dynamic midfielder with the potential to become a key asset. His arrival could provide valuable depth in midfield and contribute to a long-term project at the Turin club.
