Paris Saint-Germain are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Yan Diomandé from RB Leipzig, according to reports in L'Équipe. The 19-year-old Ivorian winger has informed the club of his desire to join the Parisian project this summer, a key prerequisite for PSG entering negotiations.
While a five-year contract is still being finalized, an agreement is said to be very close. Diomandé is reportedly willing to accept a salary lower than what Liverpool offered, demonstrating his preference for a move to the French capital. Liverpool were heavily interested and submitted offers exceeding €100 million, but the player has chosen PSG.
Luis Enrique is personally involved in convincing players of the sporting project, while Luis Campos and Nasser al-Khelaïfi are handling the financial aspects of the transfer. PSG routinely asks players to make financial concessions when dealing with high transfer fees, and despite an expected significant fee, it is anticipated to be lower than Liverpool’s bids.
The existing relationship between Oliver Mintzlaff, Leipzig’s board chairman, and Nasser al-Khelaïfi is proving beneficial to PSG in negotiations. Both men have a strong working relationship and are both members of the European Football Club board, which is expected to facilitate the transfer. The broader collaboration between QSI, PSG’s owners, and Red Bull is also contributing to positive discussions.
PSG are hoping to secure Diomandé’s services quickly, with the aim of integrating him into the squad after his participation in the Coupe d'Ivoire’s World Cup campaign concludes. The potential signing of Diomandé and Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco are intended to offset the departures of Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan for a fee approaching €75 million, and Lee Kang-in.
Further movement in the PSG attack is anticipated, with Bradley Barcola’s contract situation unresolved and the future of Ibrahim Mbaye uncertain. The club is also actively pursuing a left-back to provide competition for Nuno Mendes.
