Juventus set to confirm Luciano Spalletti contract extension until 2028
Luciano Spalletti is set to sign a new two-year contract extension with Juventus, with an official announcement expected imminently. According to reports from Italy, only minor bureaucratic details remain to be finalised before the Tuscan manager commits his future to the club until June 2028. The deal is understood to be worth a net salary of six million euros per season, an increase from the clause that would have been triggered automatically by a top-four finish.
The extension represents a firm show of faith from club president John Elkann, who is reportedly convinced Spalletti can build a winning cycle in Turin. This conviction has been strengthened by the team's performances over the last four months of a transitional season, where Juventus has shown flashes of being a top side. Securing Champions League qualification is seen as the platform from which the club can immediately challenge for the Serie A title next season.
Juventus's strategy of continuity was publicly outlined by CEO Damien Comolli last month. Speaking in London after the team's Europa League exit to Galatasaray, Comolli stressed the need for stability after a period of frequent managerial changes. He stated that maintaining the same coach, strategy, and style of play was fundamental for the club to return to competing for major honours. Comolli has since returned to the club's Continassa headquarters to finalise the last steps of the agreement with Spalletti.
The manager himself has repeatedly expressed his desire to stay and build a competitive project. Club legend Giorgio Chiellini, who has grown closer to the first-team setup this season, is also reported to have played a key role in persuading Spalletti to continue. There is said to be total synergy between the coach, the directors, and the ownership regarding the squad's current deficiencies and the targeted transfer market work required this summer.
With Champions League football and associated revenue secured, Juventus is expected to be active in the transfer window to build a squad capable of challenging for the scudetto. Spalletti's extension is the first and most crucial piece of that puzzle, providing the stability the club's hierarchy believes is essential for success. The imminent confirmation solidifies his position as the central figure in Juventus's planned resurgence.
