Juventus are poised to make Alisson Becker their first signing of the summer transfer window, according to reports from TuttoSport. The Brazilian goalkeeper has reportedly made his desire to join the Turin club known, seeking a reunion with a manager he has previously worked with successfully.
Juventus’ sporting director, Damien Comolli, is driving the move as a demonstration to supporters and new coach Luciano Spalletti of the club’s ambition to build a competitive squad following a disappointing season that saw them miss out on Champions League qualification. Securing Alisson would allow the club to focus on strengthening other areas of the pitch. The move is also seen as a way to appease fans frustrated by the team’s recent performance.
Alisson, formerly of Roma, has been a key player for Liverpool since his arrival in 2018, winning numerous titles including the Premier League and Champions League. However, his future at Anfield has come into question with the arrival of other goalkeeping options and a potential reshaping of the squad under new management. He reportedly requested a discount on his transfer fee, leveraging his good relationship with the Liverpool hierarchy.
Liverpool are now reconsidering the sale, fearing a loss of leadership within the squad should Alisson depart alongside other potential departures such as Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson, and Ibrahima Konaté. Manager Arne Slot is reportedly considering loaning out goalkeeper Bartlomiej Drągowski and retaining Alisson for another season. Juventus have submitted an initial bid of €5 million for the 31-year-old, a figure significantly lower than Liverpool’s initial valuation, which was increased recently by triggering a one-year contract extension. Despite the gap, Juventus remain confident of reaching an agreement.
Should the deal with Liverpool fall through, Juventus have identified Fiorentina’s David de Gea as a potential alternative. However, De Gea has also been offered to Inter, and Juventus may also look to move on current goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio. Alisson is reportedly prepared to sign a three-year contract with Juventus, earning €4.5 million per season.
