Juventus are evaluating alternative goalkeepers as their pursuit of Liverpool’s Alisson Becker has encountered difficulties, according to reports in Italy. The club is considering Giorgi Mamardashvili of Liverpool, David De Gea of Fiorentina, and Alexander Nubel of Bayern Munich as potential reinforcements for the upcoming summer transfer window.
The situation surrounding Alisson and Mamardashvili is particularly intertwined. Liverpool reportedly view Mamardashvili as the long-term successor to Alisson, but the Brazilian is unwilling to share goalkeeping duties and is seeking a move away from Anfield, especially following the departures of teammates Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah. Juventus has emerged as an appealing destination for Alisson, given his previous positive experience in Serie A and his familiarity with manager Luciano Spalletti from their time together at Roma.
However, Liverpool are resisting Alisson’s departure, hoping to avoid losing another key player during the transfer window, and have reportedly indicated he will remain the first-choice goalkeeper in the 2026-2027 season. This has led to speculation that Mamardashvili, at 26, would prefer consistent playing time and a loan move to Juventus could provide that opportunity, allowing him to develop in a prominent European league before potentially returning to Liverpool to succeed Alisson. Both clubs and the player are weighing the pros and cons of this arrangement.
Beyond Mamardashvili, Juventus are also assessing other options. David De Gea, 35, is available from Fiorentina and would represent a relatively inexpensive acquisition, bringing with him a wealth of experience – including 10 trophies – from his time at Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, and the Spanish national team, as well as prior experience in Serie A. Alexander Nubel, 29, currently on loan at Stuttgart from Bayern Munich, is another candidate. While he hasn’t secured regular playing time in Bavaria, his performances have earned him a place in Germany’s squad for the upcoming international tournament, and he could cost around €12 million.
