Roma are prioritizing the signing of RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa as they begin to plan their summer transfer business, according to reports in Italy. The club, anticipating Champions League qualification, have already enquired about the Norwegian international in January, but a deal was deemed too expensive at the time.
Roma initially approached Leipzig offering a fee of €60 million for Nusa, but the German club were unwilling to sell mid-season. However, the price has reportedly dropped to €50 million, making a transfer more feasible, particularly if Roma can generate funds through the sale of players like Soulé or Koumé. The potential arrival of a new sporting director, expected after the match against Verona, will be key to finalizing any deals.
Gian Piero Gasperini, who is set to take charge of Roma, has identified a need for reinforcements in the attacking positions. He is looking for players under the age of 30 with experience and the ability to adapt quickly to his tactical system, prioritizing pace, work rate, and clinical finishing. Nusa fits this profile, having impressed despite Norway’s recent struggles.
Alongside Nusa, Roma are also considering other options, including Crysencio Summerville of West Ham United, who could be available for around €40 million if the Hammers are relegated to the Championship. Summerville shares an agency with Roma’s existing player Malen and possesses similar qualities to Lookman. Mason Greenwood, currently at Marseille, is also on Gasperini’s list, although he primarily plays on the right wing. Greenwood’s situation at Marseille is reportedly unstable, and a return to the Premier League appears unlikely.
Further options being monitored include Tel of Tottenham and Tzolis of Bruges, but these are currently considered secondary targets. Gasperini has also requested an additional left-back and two more forwards, with Champions League qualification potentially increasing the Friedkin family’s transfer budget and allowing them to pursue more ambitious signings. The club has recently secured contract renewals for key players Dybala, Celik, and Pellegrini, demonstrating a commitment to building a competitive squad.
