Rémy Labeau-Lascary is set to leave Lens permanently, joining Auxerre on a loan deal with an obligation to buy, according to reports from L’Équipe and Onze Mondial. The 23-year-old forward, currently under contract with Lens until June 2028, will initially move to Auxerre on loan, with the agreement including a clause for a mandatory purchase should the Burgundy-based club maintain their Ligue 1 status.
Auxerre will pay a loan fee of €1.5 million, and a further €5 million will be due to complete the permanent transfer. Should Auxerre avoid relegation, Labeau-Lascary will sign a four-year contract with the club, beginning in the summer of 2027. This move represents a significant opportunity for the young player to establish himself as a regular first-team player.
Labeau-Lascary has spent the previous two seasons on loan, gaining experience in Ligue 2 with Laval and then in Ligue 1 with Brest. While he didn’t fully break into the Brest starting eleven, he made a valuable contribution as a squad player, appearing in 24 league matches and scoring three goals. His time at Laval was more prolific, where he demonstrated his goal-scoring ability in the second tier of French football.
Lens have a number of attacking options, and the sale, even structured as a loan with obligation, allows them to recoup a fee for a player who hasn’t consistently featured in their plans. For Auxerre, the acquisition of Labeau-Lascary provides a boost to their attacking options as they battle to secure their place in Ligue 1. The financial structure of the deal allows them to spread the cost, contingent on their continued success in the league.
